To me, art is a visceral form of expression that allows me to explore human experience in its ever changing nature.
What is perfection? While striving to answer this question, we must explore whether perfection can ever be attained. Perfectionism is the urge to appear, feel and be perfect. It acts as a self-motivating driver, and is a reflection of a person’s standards, attitudes, and perceptions. The notion of perfectibility can be construed as one of accuracy and being well-ordered; specific attributes must be achieved before it is perceived as perfect, but perfectionism is also subjective. Charlotte’s practice was developed from precise and regimented pen drawings that were chasing the ideal line, to then using a less controllable and more fluid medium. The abstract style examines the artist’s active relationship within her work and her own desire to reach perfection. She creates expressionist, abstract paintings and installations by the pushing and splattering of paint to explore human experiences. Inspired by the bright, absorbing colours of nature she aims to highlight the fluidity and ever changing scenery around us.
